Based in Birmingham, Shale is the Project Director of Aspire & Succeed, a community organisation in Lozells, Birmingham working to bridge the provision of vital services for those who need them – from housing to access to benefits.
People’s Health Trust has partnered with Aspire & Succeed for ten years as part of the Local Conversation programme and most recently has supported the Lozells Health Commission.
This podcast was produced by Health Equals in collaboration with Empathy Museum. It gathers stories from those dedicated to supporting communities facing challenges such as inadequate housing, air pollution, and hunger. Originally an immersive experience allowing people to literally step into the shoes of those working on the frontlines of health, housing, the education system and more; the experience is now re-imagined for digital audiences.
“I’ve lived the reality of poverty, worrying about basic needs. Now, I’m determined to give back to my community, helping others live healthier, happier lives. Being part of Mile in My Shoes is an opportunity to show the humanity behind the struggles and to encourage people to step into these stories with an open heart and mind.”
