Around 2.5 million financially vulnerable older people are at risk of losing the Winter Fuel Payment, and across the country we’ve heard from many who have told us about their feelings of extreme anxiety and fear for survival.
Older people who are unable to adequately heat their homes are especially at risk of strokes, heart attacks, respiratory diseases, and tragically, death. This risk becomes even higher for those who are already disabled or have underlying health conditions.
We’re urgently raising £250,000 to provide vital support for thousands of older people who need it the most.
We know that services such as ‘warm rooms’, community cafes, and access to vital advice services and groups are a lifeline to help older people, but local charities face increasingly limited resources and budgets - and that’s where we come in.
The money we raise will go towards improving the lives of older people by supporting the grassroots community organisations working directly with the UK’s most vulnerable older people.
