Our approach to safeguarding
If an applicant or funded partner has any safeguarding concerns about an organisation we fund, someone we employ or a volunteer of the Trust, they should email Max Rutherford or Tommy McIlravey (the Trust’s safeguarding leads) at safeguarding@peopleshealthtrust.org.uk or telephone 020 4548 0939.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults and our approach is designed to prevent harm and to provide a clear statement on standards we expect and the process to be followed if something goes wrong.
The Trust’s approach to safeguarding has been developed considering guidance documents from the Charity Commission for England and Wales (Safeguarding and protecting people for charities and trustees, 2019), the Association of Charitable Foundations (Safeguarding Framework for Foundations, 2021), and the safeguarding procedures of a sample of other funders. It aims to reflect current best practice whilst also providing an approach that is proportionate for the Trust’s aims, scope and scale of grant making.

We review our safeguarding policy every 12 months, and it is agreed by a Board-delegated committee. Our Board has a safeguarding lead and we keep up-to-date with changes in legislation and practice.
